I was honored when I was invited to enter the Wyoming stamp contest. The subject was the noble Mule Deer. Illustrated in Acrylic.
I entered the Wyoming Wildlife stamp contest, this was a color study, before I proceeded to painting. I envisioned the bear as a Pedigree dog at a show but highlighting the weak eye sight and the strong sense of smell. .....An acorn fell in the forest the eagle saw it the deer heard it and the bear smelled it... If I had to do it again I would have had his fur motioning in a strong swirling wind... Markers, Prismacolors, and white gouache for highlights.
I was told the eyes of the spotted owl does not have the whites showing, unlike the Greathorn or other species, but it stands out and catches your attention right... :P Oils on canvas
