Sometimes the Client would be very specific as to what they want, but then there are those that just want to see something....
Trying to make a puzzle work. Here I was given elements, Bike, 4 play stations, counter, etc... I had to fit all of this in a given area. Illustrated in Photoshop.
Here we weren't given any elements. I was told they, the Studio, would generate any art we created. The middle concept I found promo film elements from the internet. Sometimes if the art already exists it becomes easier for the studio to produce...
1st you need an area for your billing, and title, then you have a limited amount of corrugate to use, your display has to reach a minimum of 8 ft. but can't exceed 10 ft., die-cuts will add cost... OK design.. Sketched, scanned, colored in photoshop.
Working with limited information but still coming up with something... No trailer, No still shots, No full title, Just a partial script... Sketched, scanned, colored in photoshop.
You have to have 20 concepts within 48 hrs.... We call this.. Design by the Pound... based on how many pounds of paper we're eventually going to come up with.. lol...
These were initial concepts before we were given concise direction. although far from what would eventually be the final production version you could see that the art is close to production ready.
Simple and clean.
If you look at each concept you will notice that all three have no similarities. Three totally different concepts, this allows the client room to explore options... The client would later explore more of Tiny the Trex.
These were initial designs I created, back in1994, the client wanted something small enough for a business card but big enough to fit the back of a TShirt. The animals/ reptiles should be interchangeable etc. The client then bails out claiming they have insufficient funds. 10 years later I'm browsing the internet and I find similar designs.. hmmm.. either I'm so advance or someone suddenly had sufficient funds... Or just like the sword, you could be continents apart, but if needed it'll be made with almost identical features given identical design parameters.. This was 1 page of 3 I created. Another reason, if you are a good enough designer you'll have created, given the same parameters, the same result. Inside joke to those that think there creating something unique... Everything has been done... You can't re-envent the wheel...
Here I'm given a foot print, amount of product, height restrictions, product size, product volume, etc.. Our company, at the time comes up with there own material, style, etc... OK design...
My son had started playing Yugio cards when he was 10 he wasn't very good so I made him some fake cards, printed them on the inkjet (he thought they were real) He won a few.. lol..... Illustrated in Photoshop
